Computer Recycling How Can You Do Your Bit To Save The Environment?

http://www.lcws.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/robotguy11.png Computer recycling is the practice of recycling old computer systems to maximize their utilization and minimize the problems due to accumulation of electronic junk in dump sites. This is done in accordance with proper waste disposal norms. Computers and electronic items are heavy with metallic components, which, upon continuous accumulation lead to toxicity to all life forms. In addition, recycling is far more cost effective than building and purchasing new systems.

Computer recycling can be done in two ways. First of all, old systems are simply repaired and then resold. Sometimes, people dump their systems just because they need a more advanced configuration. However, their old systems are perfect for the purpose of some other users, who will also get a cheaper deal on a recycled system. Secondly, if the system is completely beyond salvage, it will be dismantled and its functional components will be used in assembling other computers or electronic devices. This substantially reduces the cost of producing these components. In fact, one obsolete system can bring life to several electronic devices. Many times companies themselves buy these systems back in exchange of some rebate on new systems.

Thus, Computer Recycling seems to be an eco-friendly and cost effective practice. However, one has to keep certain points in mind while subscribing to it. To begin with, one should take care to erase all information contained within the system’s hard disk. It can be severely misused if it falls in the wrong hands. Care also has to be taken by those who wish to purchase a recycled system. This transaction should be done through an authorized and authentic dealer. This ensures that the system, though recycled, is in perfect working condition and will not malfunction at the first possibility opportunity. An authorized dealer will also provide proper documentation and assistance in case of problems with the system post purchase.
